White paper on “Eye-safe” 1.54 µm nanosecond and CW erbium glass lasers
Lasers emitting at 1.5-1.6 µm spectral range find applications in laser ranging and LIDAR systems due to its eye-safety and high transparency of the atmosphere.
Optogama offers a variety of eye-safe 1.54 μm high-efficiency diode-pumped conduction-cooled passively Q-switched and CW erbium glass lasers.
1,54 μm wavelength nanosecond lasers “KAUKAS“ 1, 2, 3 series as well as „RANGER“ lasers possess a unique compact design and are available in OEM models. These lasers delivers from 1 mJ up to 3 mJ energy per pulse with pulse duration 6-14 ns, TEM00 beam profile and repetition rate of up to 10 Hz.
„KAUKAS HR“ model lasers have adjustable repetition rate feature and deliver more than 30 µJ energy per pulse with a repetition rate of up to 1 kHz.
Applications of the “eye-safe” 1.54 μm nanosecond lasers incude LIDAR and laser ranging, LIBS, metrology and instrumentation, research. Standard specifications for 1.54 µm diode-pumped pulsed erbium glass lasers are summarised in Table 1.
“KAUKAS CW” lasers have compact DPSS design and deliver up to 400 mW of continuous-wave power with high beam quality at 6 wavelengths in the 1.5-1.6 μm spectral range (Table 2). These lasers can be used in optical instrumentation, metrology and spectroscopy, and life sciences.
